LIFE PLUS HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION, Chennai jointly in association
with EMMIMAH MEMORIAL CHARITABLE TRUST, Chennai organized an special awareness
program for school children, particularly in the age group of 5 to 13, who are
very prone to molestation and abusing.
Teaching children about personal body protection is fundamental
survival cleverness. Whether it is a boy or a girl, children below 10 years
should be taught about their body parts, private parts, good-touch and
bad-touch, make them feel comfortable to share their odd experiences,
consequently protecting them from such domestic violence. Children as young as
two can learn about private body parts.
Although it may be difficult or anxiety provoking discussing
personal body safety with children; appearing relaxed and open "will
facilitate child's learning. The majority of children are molested by someone
they know. Children are often not prepared when a relative, neighbor, or other
acquaintance make sexual advances.
Methods and techniques to identify people who intends to molest
them, or abuse them, and how to protect them ad escape from such situations
were discussed through an audio visual presentation, followed by storytelling
sessions. Finally we ended the evening with an oath taking.
